Comtest - Measure with Confidence
LeCroy Appoints Comtest as its Exclusive Distributor Print E-mail
Francesco Raimondi and Ravi LachmanLeCroy Corporation in the United States has appointed Comtest as its sole distributor in southern Africa, effective immediately.  Established by Mr LeCroy in 1964, LeCroy is a leading provider of oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers and related test and measurement solutions that enable companies across a wide range of industries to design and test electronic devices of all types.

Francesco Raimondi, the Distribution Sales Manager for Europe, the Middle East and Africa market, was in South Africa for the countrywide launch of LeCroy. Raimondi expressed his confidence that Comtest was the right partner to develop the LeCroy brand in Africa: "Comtest has the right mix of technical expertise, service capability and experience to develop the market and, together with its large installed dealer base throughout southern and South Africa, to establish LeCroy as a leading contender in the test and measurement field."

He adds, "LeCroy is a leader in its field largely owing to its technology. For instance, we have fast-sampling oscilloscopes with 100 GHz bandwidth and real-time oscilloscopes at 60 GHz/second. There is also a full range of oscilloscopes from 100 MHz upwards."

Oscilloscopes are tools used by designers and engineers to measure and analyze complex electronic signals in order to develop high performance systems and to validate electronic designs in order to improve time to market. Protocol analyzers are tools used by designers and engineers to generate and monitor traffic over high speed serial data interfaces. Both products are critical in the development of a wide variety of demanding design applications.

Peter Verwer, MD of Comtest, says LeCroy's equipment is of a very high quality at market-related prices. "It fits very well into the mix of products that we offer and also into our company's objective to offer the market a complete range of high quality electrical and electronic test and measurement products.

"We are keen to promote LeCroy's products and the combination of Comtest's , a specialist in the field, heading up the team, together with our active and successful dealer base offering high quality products at affordable prices, we are confident that LeCroy will do well in our region," says Verwer.

Raimondi and Lachman held product launches and training countrywide and also demonstrated LeCroy equipment to several Comtest customers. End users of the range include manufacturers, the electronics industry, computer manufacturers, the automotive industry, as well as research and education institutions. Referring to the latter, Raimondi expressed how impressed he was at the steps taken by South African universities to ensure that students are workplace-ready when they graduate.
