JDSU Introduces Handheld Tunable Laser Source |
Comtest, sole authorised distributor of JDSU’s industrial and electrical test tools, says JDSU has introduced the industry’s first handheld, battery powered tunable laser source.
The TLS-55 Smart Optical tester is designed to support ROADM network test applications and is fully compatible with the JDSU optical spectrum analyser for the T-BERD/MTS-8000. The latter uses a new, highly accurate method for measuring the true optical signal-to-noise ratio in reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer (ROADM) networks.
The TLS-55 is the industry’s smallest and most lightweight tunable laser source and is specifically designed for channel routing applications, such as wavelength tracking, in ROADM networks. The tester is available in two models. TLS-55c covers all ITU-T frequencies from 1528.384 nm to 1563.863 nm based on a 50 GHz grid. The additional wavelength of 1510 nm ensures testing of optical supervisory channels (optional). The TLS-55L is the complimentary laser source to address applications in the L-band from 1570.42 nm to 1608.76 nm.
