In order to provide a reliable means for battery system management and to improve overall power reliability, Midtronics has developed the Cellguard System. Cellguard employs the same proven battery conductance test circuit in use in thousands of Midtronics battery testers deployed with telecom service providers worldwide.
Key features include continuous on-line monitoring for system integrity assurance and full conductance, jar temperature and voltage monitoring for comprehensive battery state of health analysis. Conductance advantages include safe, simple, accurate battery prognostics. Conductance testing is the industry choice and defacto standard for battery testing. The test signal is applied to an individual jar to give high resolution of the system’s state of health. Intercell connection integrity monitoring ensures system effectiveness.
The Cellguard Trace (UBM-1048) system provides effective string battery monitoring for 24 V or 48 V battery applications. It is designed to monitor stationary batteries in a variety of applications, including: telecommunications, wireline (OSP), wireless, fire and security alarm systems, broadband and switching and control systems.
Using easy-to-install kelvin connections, the Cellguard Trace measures individual 12-volt jar conductance, voltage and temperature every 24 hours and warns or alarms when any measured parameter crosses a preset threshold. This approach provides for early warning of battery degradation, enabling individual jars to be removed from the string prior to full string degradation or system failure.
